A piper for all occasions, Pipe Major A. J. Harrison has been playing the Scottish Great Highland bagpipes for over 40 years. He has entertained at many different types of occasion - weddings, birthday parties, ladies nights, Burns nights, ceilidhs etc, as well as having piped on TV and radio, in orchestral performances, at international music and dance festivals and pipe band competitions in Britain and almost every European country.
Over the years he has played with a number of pipe bands including those of the City of Manchester, West Yorkshire Fire Service, Clan Sutherland and most recently Pontefract Caledonian. He is the holder of an advanced certificate from the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association and has a full teachers certificate for the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society. He also plays to Highland and Scottish Country dancing and teaches the bagpipes.
A. J. Harrison normally wears the Murray of Atholl Ancient tartan. Though based in West Yorkshire, he is willing to travel within the UK and overseas.
