 Piper D Brown grew up on the Isle of Bute on the west coast of Scotland, an area of strong piping tradition. He has years of experience piping solo at private events, as well as competitions. He came 1st place in the Solo Amateur March competition at the English Championships at Knebworth 2003, on a very wet day.
His experience also stretches to pipe bands. Since moving to Sussex over 10 years ago he has become Pipe Major of a local band - performing at a variety of venues including the Congress Theatre in Eastbourne, at the Festival of Remembrance 2006, Fairfield Hall (Croydon), and the Guild Hall (Preston), and with The Band of the Royal Engineers at Firle Park (Sussex) during the Millennium celebrations. The band has also played at Herstmonceux Castle Sussex, with The Band of the Lifeguards in 1999 and The Band of the Parachute Regiment in 2003, both times in front of Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant Of East Sussex. As a member of Gatwick Caledonian Pipes and Drums, he also competes in various competitions.
Based on the coast of Sussex, Piper D Brown has built up a wide-ranging repertoire of traditional and contemporary pipe music and is available for Weddings, Surprise Parties, Celebrations, Birthdays, Burns Suppers, New Year, or any other occasion. He can pipe solo or as part of a pipe and drum band based on the requirements of the event.
Piper D Brown's is able to perform in no.2 or 'day' dress as it is more commonly known, and his choice of tartans are Hunting Stewart - dark green, Lamont - blue/green or Ancient Caledonian - red.
