Initially taught by Pipe Major 'Dixie' Ingram, who was responsible for taking the Scots Guards Pipes to the World Championships in 1984, Piper Richard Dawson has celebrated 25 years in the British army and has performed all over the UK, in America and in Europe. He has piped at many festivals and tattoos, and a host of other varied events worldwide including:-
Washington D.C. - Cocktails at the British Embassy during a major conference - here he was awarded the coveted Silver Dollar by the General in Command.
Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris - leading a procession into the Cathedral, and leading a parade of the Royal British Legion for Armistice Day Parade.
Austria - had the privilege of being the only solo piper performing at the opening of a major bi-annual military musical extravaganza.
Duxford Air Show and Museum - Closing the 2004 D-Day anniversary air show with a lament.
